PV efficiency

The efficiency of a photovoltaic panel is defined as follows:

$\eta = \frac{E^-}{I+}$

$\eta$ Efficiency [%]
$E^-$ Electricity produced by the PV panel [W/m2]
$I^+$ Solar irradiance [W/m2]

Next table contains the expected evolution of PV panels efficiency classified by technology.

Technology/Efficiency [1] 2012 2020 2035-2050
Monocristallin silicon 14-20% 23% 25%
Polycristalin silicon 13-15% 19% 21%
Amorphous silicon 6-9% 12% 15 %
