Centralized biomass CHP

The centralised biomass combined heat and power plant produces heat and electricity using a biomass resource. It is part of the centralized cogeneration group. The technology is based on a wood boiler and a Rankine cycle with steam draw-offs after the turbine to supply the useful heat to a district heating system. Electrical efficiencies are of the order of 18-19% while the thermal efficiency is in the range of 53%.

A cogeneration biomass power plant burns wood and other residues from vegetable origin in a boiler which produces high pressure steam. The steam is expanded in a turbine which runs an alternator that produces electricity. A steam withdrawal is done after the turbine in order to supply heat for the industry or for a district heating network.
